Montpelier Motor Speedway
Pits Are Full With 104+ Cars For The Monster Mash
Pit stewards had to
work quickly to keep the lines short for the pit entrance.
The line to get into the track reached back into the main road as
over 104 cars came to race the Monster Mash.
Trick Or Treat!
The Monster Mash
allowed families into the pits before the racing action to trick
or treat, check out the cars up close, and get autographs from
their favorite drivers. Kids raced car to car seeking
goodies from the drivers and their families. Thanks to the
drivers who participated in the trick or treat hour!
Carrying The Left Front
2010 Limaland Stock
Champion and the winningest driver at the Montpelier Motor
Speedway in 2010, Tony Anderson, carries the left front skyward.
The Monster Mash brought intense competition in the Super Stock
class with 33 cars on hand.
The ModLites got
into the three wheel action with eventual race winner Zanesville,
Ohio's, #59 Tracy
Fritter, digging hard on the right rear. Past ModLite
track champions #11 Willie McFarland and #14 Tim Vangundy enter
the corner behind Fritter in the low and middle groove.
Non-Wing Sprint Car Aces
One great thing
about the Monster Mash is you never know whom it might be bring
out to try to pick up that final checkered flag of the race season.
Non-Wing Sprint Car driver, Jeff Bland Jr., made a rare appearance
in his UMP Modified at the Monster Mash. Bland was a national
UMP modified points contender before jumping into sprint car
racing. Bland has Sprint car wins this season at the
Bloomington Speedway along with
several wins in the MSCS Sprint Car series.
Motor Speedway Non-Wing Sprint Car Champion, Stomp and Steer
Scotty Weir, returned to the speedway this time piloting the #14
Thompson Trucking UMP Modified entry. The Weir family
has history at the speedway as Scotty's father was also a track
champion in the street stock/hobby stock class years ago.
#72M Mike Beatty
leads a pack of modifieds out of turn 2 . The #47 of Rob
Kaus works the high side as the black #8 Jim Mallory and the white
#8 Rob Scarrette pull the left front into the air.
Super Late Model Winner, #5X The Jedi Jerry Bowersock, circles the
top side while 2010 Montpelier Modified Madness Series Winner #25
Bub Patrick works the low side. Dan Anderson splits
the middle while #77 Bill Bradley, #25 Bruce Hogue, and #99 Josh
McElyea enter the corner. Earlier in the season, Partick
made one appearance at the speedway for the Midwest Modified
Madness show. Patrick passed Glenn Bradley on the highside with
one lap to go to take the $1000 to win prize home. Partick
returned two additional times to the speedway for the Monster Mash
tune-up show and Monster Mash; unfortunately, mechanical issues
seemed to plaque Patrick's chances on each of these nights.
The Monster Mash
brought about a very competitive super stock class to race for
the $500 to win. Drivers from 3 states competed in the Super
Stock class. Michigan driver, #18 Bobby
Hinkle, darts low to pass Indiana driver #89 Bobby Burton.
Ohio Driver #52 Stacy Gazarek races side by side with the E5 of
The R1 of Ryan Ramseyer works the top shelf as Ohio drivers, #19
Bill Reimund and #13 Tony Silvestri works the middle grove and
Thunder Action was
just as exciting with 24+ cars in the pits. The #0 Frankie
Oakes leads a group of Thunders through turns 1 & 2.
The #2 of Ed Johnson
wheels it hard through turns 1 & 2 as eventual race winner #50 Jason Shrout takes a peek underneath.
#Dayton, Ohio driver
#29 Ray Heskett leads #4 Rick Risinger through the middle of turn
You know it's going
to be a challenging and competitive night when the line just to
get onto the track for hot laps reaches back to the pit shack.
The B18 of Dan
Shaffer found himself on the hook early with mechanical issues
during hot laps, but the Michigan driver had everything ready to
go the feature and managed to earn a top 10 finish despite
the rough start.

- #18H Bobby Hinkle made the long pull to the Monster Mash from
Michigan and was
anything BUT out of control. Hinkle won heat 2 of the Super
Stocks carving his way to the lead from his dead last starting

#96 JR Ruefer piloted what looked like to be a leaf spring Buzzard
chassis to a 3rd place finish at the Monster Mash tune up show and
followed up a week later with a 6th place finish at the Monster

winner #79 Shane Unger.
