Jake Ruefer Wins UMP Modified
Battle To Collect $1000 Payday In An Instant Classic. Matheny,
Hunter, and McFarland Collect Double Header Night #1 Paydays.
In UMP Modified action, Roanoke,
Indiana's Jake Ruefer worked every grove possible on the onslaught
of the feature but eventually decided on the bottom grove as
everyone else went to the top. By the half way point of the
feature, Ruefer had worked his way to the runner up position and
was to the bottom side of race leader, Todd Sherman, who
raced on the high side against the cushion. A back and
fourth classic seesaw battle ensued
over the final 10 laps with Ruefer and Sherman trading the lead
each lap. A series of yellow flag restarts on the final lap
added to the drama, but in the end it was Ruefer picking up the
big victory. Ruefer's $1000 Win over a 42 car field marked
his first UMP Modified victory at the speedway since his track
championship 2004 season, Sherman, Aaron Orr, Scott Orr, and
Bill Lewis rounded out the top 5.
In Super
Street action, Jeff Matheny picked up his second consecutive win
this season netting a $500 payday over a 22 car field. Tony
Anderson, Lima Ohio's Jeff Koz, Ervin Turner, and UMP Modified
pilot, Tommy Beezley, making a rare start in a street stock
rounded out the top 5.
Kokomo,
Indiana's Chris Hunter proved to be the man to beat again as he
picked up the $350 Thunder Car score. Current points leader,
Travis Nichols, finished second with Jeremy VanNess, Jason Shrout,
Lonnie Hughes rounding out the top 5.
In Mod Lite
action, Willie McFarland became the first repeat winner of the
season in the Mod Lite division picking up the win over Gary
Gipson, Chad Clay, Todd Padgett, Rob Brenner, and Dennis Griffith.
