Montpelier Motor Speedway Cancels August 29th Racing Event Due To Medical Emergency for Hunter Family.
The Montpelier Motor Speedway is forced to cancel this Saturday’s, August 29th event due to a medical emergency. Track owner, Harold Hunter, will be undergoing emergency back surgery this coming Friday. Harold was determined to wait until the end of the 2015 season before surgery, but doctors have determined that it is not in his best interest. Harold has been dealing with extreme back, leg, and feet pain during the 2015 season.
The track staff will use the remainder of this week to organize and shift different responsibilities to finish the 2015 season as scheduled and will begin next week to prepare the facility for the September 5th race. The same MMS staff track preparation team will continue to prepare the track for racing. Our race director, scorers, transponders, flagman, track spotters, along with concession, souvenir stands, and ticket booth and pit gate workers will also remain in place.
The Montpelier Motor Speedway regrets this cancellation of the Family Night event, but is looking forward to continue to provide a great racing experience for race teams and fans. Again, the remainder of the 2015 season will continue as scheduled beginning September 5th providing the same great racing and experience.
Please keep track owners Harold and Lori Hunter in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult week.
